Adding or editing Import Configurations

You can add or edit Import Configurations from the Import Configurations tab on the Resources module Admin page. Import Configurations allow you to determine column mappings, delimiters, and organization mappings that are saved in the system. You can use these configurations when you are importing resources to streamline the process (for more information, see Importing resources from a file).

To add or edit an Import Configuration

  1. From Admin page, select the Import Configurations tab.
  2. Do one of the following:

    • Click Add New Import Configuration.
    • Click Edit () for an existing Import Configuration.
  3. Type a name for the Import Configuration.

Note: For more information about any of these fields, see Fields: Add/Edit Import Configuration.

  4. In the General Resource Fields section, input the column numbers from the import file that this configuration matches for each resource field. For example, if your import file had a second column called Name that corresponded to the Resource Title, then you would input 2 for the value.
  5. Input column numbers for the resource fields in the Alias Sets, Resource Parents, ISBN/ISSN Sets, Subject Sets, Note sets, and Organization Sets sections.

Note: Because some import files have multiple values for these fields, you have the option of adding additional sets or parent resources for these sections. If your import file has additional values for these sections in a single column separated by a delimiter, then you can use the If delimited, delimited by field to input the delimiter character.

  6. In the ISBN/ISSN sets section, select Dedupe on this column for any ISBN/ISSN column mappings that you want to exclude duplicate values for.
  7. In the Alias Sets, Note Sets, and Organization Sets sections, assign Alias Types, Note Types, or Organization Roles to each column mapping. You can configure the Alias Types, Note Types, and Organization Roles that are available in your system on the Resources module Admin page (for more information, see Administrative settings for Resources).
  8. If your import file has multiple values for some organization names that you wish to normalize to a single value, then add values to the Organization Name and Will Be Mapped To fields in the Organization Name Mapping section.

Note: You can create as many organization mappings as you need.

  9. Click Submit.
