Fields: Add/Edit Import Configuration

Import Configurations consist column mappings, delimiters, and organization mappings that correspond to an import file format that your library uses to import resources into the system. For example, you would probably have a different Import Configuration for each publisher that you import resources from. Once you have added Import Configurations to the system you can use them later to streamline the import process.

Configuration Name

A name for this Import Configuration. Typically this name corresponds to a publisher, since each publisher formats their export files differently.

General Resource Fields

Specifies column mappings for basic information about each resource that will be created from an import file. Compare the resource field descriptions with the values from your import file to determine which column numbers to input. The following values can be mapped:

Resource Field

Description

Resource Title

Specifies the name of the resource. Typically resource names correspond to the name of the package that you are purchasing. For example, if you are purchasing a subscription to a digital publication, the name of the publication would serve as the name of the resource.

Description

Specifies more details about the resource. This can be helpful to help distinguish between multiple resources that have similar names.

Resource URL

Specifies the URL to the provider, organization, or vendor's site, or to a link with more information about the resource.

Alternate URL

Specifies an additional URL to the provider, organization, or vendor's site, or to a link with more information about the resource.

Resource Format

Lets you select the resource's format. For example, Electronic or Print & Electronic. You can configure the Resource Formats that are available in your system on the Resources module Admin page (for more information, see Resource Formats).

Resource Type

Lets you select the resource's type. For example, DatabaseeBook, or eJournal. You can configure the Resource Types that are available in your system on the Resources module Admin page (for more information, see Resource Types).

Alias Sets

Specifies column mappings for aliases. Each mapped alias column can also be assigned an Alias Type from the system. If there are several aliases listed across multiple columns, click +Add another alias set to add additional alias mappings. If there are character-delimited aliases listed in a single column, type the delimiter in the If delimited, delimited by field.

Resource Parents

Specifies column mappings for parent resources. If there are several parent resources listed across multiple columns, click +Add another parent resource to add additional parent resource mappings.

ISBN/ISSN Sets

Specifies column mappings for ISBN and ISSNs. If there are several ISBN/ISSNs listed across multiple columns, click +Add another ISBN or ISSN set to add additional ISBN/ISSN mappings. Check the Dedupe on this column box if you want to exclude any duplicate values that might be found in a column.

Subject Sets

Specifies column mappings for subjects. If there are several subjects listed across multiple columns, click +Add another subject set to add additional subject mappings. If there are character-delimited subjects listed in a single column, type the delimiter in the If delimited, delimited by field.

Note Sets

Specifies column mappings for notes. Each mapped note column can also be assigned a Note Type from the system. If there are several notes listed across multiple columns, click +Add another note set to add additional note mappings. If there are character-delimited notes listed in a single column, type the delimiter in the If delimited, delimited by field.

Organization Sets

Specifies column mappings for organizations. Each mapped organization column can also be assigned an Organization Role from the system. If there are several organizations listed across multiple columns, click +Add another organization set to add additional organization mappings.

Organization Name Mapping

Use these mappings to normalize different variations of an organization’s name to a single value. For example, you could have a publisher with three variations of their name across your import file: PublisherHouse, PublisherH, and PH. You could create a mapping for each one and normalize them all to PublisherHouse, to prevent duplicate organizations from being created. Each column that is added to an Organization Set is checked against the complete list of mappings that you create. PCRE regular expressions are supported for these mappings.

Type a name to be mapped in the Organization Name field and the normalized name in the Will Be Mapped To field. You can add additional mappings by clicking +Add another mapping.
